This park is a 41 acre field in Buckley Street’s West End. They have many features including swimming and diving complex, picnic areas, horseshoe pits, lighted softball field, bathroom, playground and gazebo area.
This park is contemporary, clean and relatively fresh. There is a very cool, long slide which was the first draw. As well as the various rock formations your kids can climb and fall off for 5-year old kids. With the little ones there is even a smaller play system. A good grassy area to sit or play adds character to this park too. Due to the loads of picnic tables about 30 in total divided into three separate parts, one with a great view of the playground so you can keep an eye on your children while “manning" or “momming" the grill, it’s a great park to host a big gathering or party.
This is a great park for all ages. In recent years Martinez has done an excellent job of renovating the park. The playground is all fresh and innovative design and a perfect place to get the kids out of the wiggles. With all the seating and BBQ pits the landscape back into the hill is super clean. The pits themselves are double sized and simple to use with a crank for raising the grill above the coals to your desired height. The place has plenty of tables and seats for large groups. The baseball field is clean and maintained, when you reach the park grounds, there are several public pools and there are plenty of hiking trails up the sides of the hill.
The park itself is lovely and most importantly clean. There are a few different picnic areas which can be rented. The one I went to had a kitchen area available for use and several picnic tables were available, enough to fit a large number of people.
This remodel is top of the line here. Separate play areas are available for various ages, and rentable picnic areas. Few homeless are hanging around than they were before the remodel. They do have the water park that’s great on a hot day. There is a baseball field available. It’s very family friendly and enjoyable for people to watch. What a perfect way to bring back life to Martinez city centre!
For people to play football, basketball, etc., there are grassy fields, and there is even a park to keep the children busy. Bathrooms are centrally situated between the picnic areas and parking hasn’t been a concern.
Overall this is a great picnic & barbecue spot. Make sure your next feature tests this out.
