Holiday Highlands Park is a 2-acre community park in Martinez City situated on an ancient fig tree farm bordered by a natural lake. Large play area, large turf field, picnic areas, benches and native riparian plants are available at the current site amenities. The park improvements include redesigning the play and picnic areas for ADA accessibility, installing an on-street ADA parking station, accessible bathroom with drinking fountain, two pedestrian and maintenance access bridges, updated irrigation system to comply with the CA Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance, new LED pathway lighting, and park monument signage. The improved play area features a completely rubberised play surface flush with the adjacent picnic and seating area to improve protection and reduce maintenance. Drainage for the rubberized play area used existing drainage inlets with a previous concrete foundation, thereby removing the need for an improved drainage system. Estimated investment to the park: $863,132. In 2012 changes to the park were complete.
This is a park within the community. It has easy parking on the driveway, with a wide grass field. There are swings and two play structures and a cement platform on which hot wheel cars can be driven. The toilets for a park are pretty clean.
Separate play structures are available which are good and some grassy fields to play ball and run around. A small circular area for riding bikes, and a creek that young boys love. It’s very quiet and situated in a suburban area, so you’ll probably run into a lot of local residents. A few BBQ pits I think are safe to use for as long as you can catch one all day.
When no one else is in the park, it is truly calming. There are plenty of fun places to visit for dogs too. This park has a high school in the center of Basketball park hoops, tennis courts, and a few baseball fields to enjoy. The other things people can enjoy here are the great lawns, good toilets (as far as park toilets go. Minimal picnic areas but they are clean. Rubber and concrete floors. Multi-age playgrounds. Carry string, a paperclip (or rubber band) and some lunch meat / hot dogs so you can catch crawdads in the creek.
Parks may consist of grassy areas, rocks, dirt, and trees but may also include buildings and other objects such as statues, fountains, or playground structures. Most parks have playing fields for baseball and football, and paved areas for sports like basketball. Many parks have walking paths, hiking trails, and other activities.
Holiday Highlands Park is truly a wonderful park for everyone. Plan a visit and see it yourself.
