Hidden Valley Park is a 16 hectare field at Center Avenue at Redwood Drive. This has two lighted tennis courts, picnic areas, playground area, two ballfields, toilets, bicycle / jogging paths,1-mile fitness course and a 2-mile path that leads up to Hidden Lakes Park.
There is a lot of seating here. Designated tables lined picnic areas. They don't have much shade unless you're sitting by the play structures in the field. There are good little trails or roads, too! It's a great place for a race, or a dog walk.
The frameworks of the play are sweet, padded to the ground in case they collapse. The concrete is redone and washed up. The grass is evergreen. People can play fetch with your cat, have a successful tag game or play a sport like football.
Tucked away between Martinez and Pleasant Hill, this park is a hidden gem. This has just been refurbished (2016), with many picnic areas and a playground for children on one side of the park, and on the other side a new soccer field, between the volleyball court and baseball field. The “secret" portion in between is a series of small lakes and streams, which has hiking trails and supports a local fishing community. By the last walk we've seen an otter swimming.
There is now also a range of picnic areas and places to bbq! There are also exercise facilities, where you can walk around the paved oval. There are roughly 3-stations, and they are simple devices, hopefully no one can destroy them. The parking lot can hold about 15 cars but there is also a fair amount of street parking available.
They've had a little paved loop of fun exercise stations since the remodel— chest press, stairmaster stuff etc. You can get into a good workout or go for a walk / run through the trails that branch off into Hidden Lakes Park from here. It became one of Martinez's best, and newly renovated parks.
Moreover, it's a lovely spacious park where you can bring your dogs and kids and barbecue with you, and have fun walks and secret lakes on the playground. The bathrooms are also good, and trash receptacles and adequate parking are available. This is a clean little park. There are footpaths across the shore. Some smaller trails take you to a mountain with Pacheco and Martinez viewing 360. From the point you can see Mt. Diablo and the delta too. The little lake is surrounded by a fountain and a trail. The local school features a fruit and vegetable garden. There are birds and several groves of oak and eucalyptus. Don't just come right away, just stop by and explore the park!
