The Garden is one of the thirteen largest collections of indigenous plants in the State. Forrest E. Deaner, a pensioned reporter and California native plant lover, founded the Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden in 2000. It is a native plant expert in California.
The Garden lies in the state recreation area of Benicia, in the charming small town of California’s historic Benicia, where the old capital still stands. The greenhouse is managed by volunteers at 100 percent. Gorgeous native crop proof. Mild spot to see our animals, including bald eagles. Incredible place. This landscape is extremely inspiring. Quite short, quite hot and lovely. Everybody is running volunteer. The greenhouse and the park are great places to see animals.
