The Crockett Hills Regional Park is a really cool, small park. From the top of the hill, you can see the Carquinez Bridge and Mt Tam. Walk to the other end of the park and you can see Mt. Diablo. Didn't see many people and the parking lot had plenty of room. There's a drop toilet and a couple picnic tables near the parking lot. Watch out for poison oak because it grows very close to the trail.
Lots of greens while you can enjoy the sounds of traffic all around. Nice close hike but headphones might add to your experience. Spotted some bobcat kittens which was cool -and they stayed on the other side of the fencing.
A lot of bikers ride here. Hiked and had no problem sharing the trail. Not much shade so bring a hat. Can get muddy in the winter or on rainy days. Trails aren't all marked well so grab a map and watch where you go. Google maps works out there so that helps.
Super nice trails. Hot, sunny climbs. But again not much shade. The flow trails have loads of jumps and banks, but they're very doable on rigid bikes if that's your thing … of course you'll be happier with some suspension. The views from up on top of the mountains where spectacular . Love this great state of California.
Visited the park several times since being in the area. Usually there are only one or two other cars in the lot. The people have been very pleasant. The trails are nice and wide for hiking. The bike riders said the bike trails were very “flowy". Very little debris to stumble over. Saw lots of hawks, eagles and turkeys as well as song birds. In October, not many flowers and things are browning, but the beautiful views of the surrounding hills, the bay and bridge more than make up for it. Great place to enjoy the peace of the woods or climb to the hills and get your heart rate up. I think it is really nice that there are grills and picnic tables available. Turned out to be such a great experience and effortless hike.
